Office XP Pro won't re-install

Installed a newly purchased retail copy of Office XP Pro,
then had to FDisk the pc. Have reloaded Win2K to the PC
and it's working ok, however Office refuses to reinstall
to the same PC that it was working fine on earlier. Have
entered the same key that worked the first time, exactly as
it is on the jewel case, yet Office insists "You have not
entered a valid product key." I've cleared the data
fields, on the assumption that there could be a hidden
"space" or other character, restarted the installation
routing, yet keep getting that same err. The key is
entered Exactly as it appears on the jewel case. Any ideas
why it's doing this and what I can do about it? Or maybe
how I can prevent having to go through this again in the
(likely) event that I have to reinstall it yet again in the
future?
