I recently reformatted the primary hard drive on my
personal computer, which, of course, led to the
destruction of all product information contained on the
drive. After reinstalling Windows XP (my hardware
profiles remain as they were), I reinstalled Office XP
and attempted to (re)Activate the product via Internet
connection. I receive the following error message from
Microsoft:
According to our records, this copy of Microsoft Office
XP Standard has already been activated on another
computer. If you believe you have received this message
in error, please contact a Customer Support
Representative by clicking OK and following the
instructions.
Needless to say, instructions for contacting a Customer
Support Representative are not provided and I cannot find
a method of contacting Customer Service without paying
obscence amounts of money.
If anyone knows how to (re)Activate Office XP (such as a
workaround) or has any good URL for (free) Microsoft
Customer Service, I would appreciate the help. I would
hate to have Office revert to Reduced Functionality.
