Is the Office XP Pro a full retail version or an upgrade? You can only
install upgrades if you have a previous version of Office installed or
have the cd for the previous version which you would use when it asks
for a qualifying product.

Thats because you have an upgrade version of OfficeXP
Qualifying products are Office; 97/2000/XPstd and Works/Works suite.
If you have a qualifying product, insert it in yr cd when it asks, when it
OKs that, replace with yr OXP upgrade disk

Incorrect. Works/Works Suite is *NOT* a qualifying product for XP.

Office XP will only use Office 97 and Office 2000 for upgrade qualification.
The page you cited applies to Office 2003, which has a more liberal upgrade
policy.
