Office XP Professional Upgrade

A

Art Chakalis

I am trying to help my daughter buy and set up a laptop
for a future trip. The machines we are looking at either
have MS Works or Office XP Standard bundled with them.

Will the Office XP Professional Upgrade package
install/upgrade over MS Works and/or Office XP Standard?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely, Art

P.S. I would have thought that this basic of a question
would be in the MS FAQ's but I could not locate it . . .
either I missed something or I was not able to follow the
site's instructions???

No, neither of them. Qualifying products for the OfficeXP Professional
Upgrade are Office97 and Office2000.

OfficeXP Standard to OfficeXP Pro is considered a cross-grade.

No version of Works now qualifies for upgrading to OfficeXP.

No. You cannot "upgrade" the same version. Also, Works is not a qualifying
product for upgrade to Office XP - only Office 97 and 2000 are qualifying
products.
