Office XP Professional Upgrade

I bought a new laptop and am trying to load my office software. The Office
Small Business loaded with no problem, but the upgrade won't install. I get
the message about no qualifying software found, but when I follwo the MS
instructions about using the CD, it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

What product series is the MS Office Small Business Edition and which specific upgrade are you referring to? If you're trying to
upgrade MS Office XP Small Business Edition to a different MS Office XP edition, that isn't a supported 'upgrade', but rather a
'crossgrade'. Crossgrades aren't supported in Office editions older than Office 2007.

Thanks for responding. Both disks came together when I bought my last
laptop, and both are (according to the engraved printing) Office XP 2002,
version 2002.

I find it very frustrating that the instructions on the support site don't
work, but maybe that is because my new machine has Vista?

I'd like to just load this upgrade since I already own it, but rather than
pay the $50 that MS wants to provide tech support, I can download a version
through my work (Federal Govt) for $26, I'm just not sure which version.

If the identified 2 disks that you "own" are labeled for sale with a new
computer or labeled OEM, you can't "legally" put them on the new laptop
anyhow. Most SBE versions of Office XP that I am familiar with were OEM.
While they might exist, I have never seen a retail SBE version of Office XP.
