Office XP Reactivation when using Remote Desktop

M

Mike

I have Office XP SP2 on my PC at work which has been activated and works perfectly fine. However, if I connect to my PC via Remote Desktop and try and use any of the Office applications then a window appears saying that 'significant hardware changes have been detected' and that I should insert the Office XP cd to reactivate it. Is this normal and if I reactivate it via Remote Desktop will I have the same problem when I use my PC normally

Thanks.

Hi mike,

Thanks for participating the community!

From your description, you will need to re-activate the OfficeXP from the
remote desktop connection, though you have activated.

This may happen when some hardware significant change is detected by
Office. In your scenario, I'd suggest you can the methods introduced from
the kb article.

Hi Mike,

If the issue remains, I'd suggest you can follow up the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
1. Ensure Windows/Office has all newest patches/updates installed.
2. please try to login in as another user account in both local console and remote desktop sessions. Administrator type user account is preferred. (If
you used different user accounts in local/remote sessions before, this might be the cause)
3. Redo activation in terminal session and then see whether this re-activation window will appear again.

It will be appreciated you post the result back in this thread.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for your suggestions, I reactivated Office whilst using Remote Desktop which now appears to be working in both console and remote desktop modes.
