Office XP removal

I tried to add Microsoft query to my office xp
professional-academic edition.
When I run the setup program, I get this message:
"The patch package could not be opened...".

I tried to uninstall the Office xp, but still get the
same error message.

I reinstalled Office 2000 professional, but that didn't
help.

Now, I still cannot get query to install and I am having
trouble sending out email using outlook.

If you installed OfficeXP, even partially, so the uninstall failed then
tried to install Office2k, you now are likely to have all sorts of Office
conflicts/incorrect file versions etc.
You may want to check the MS kb for the relevant articles on a manual
uninstall of both OfficeXP and Office2K before you try anythin else.
