Hi, all:
I'm using academic version (enterprise version) of Windows XP and
Office XP in my office and recently I was trying to install the Office
XP Service Pack 1 through the Windows XP Update site, but it can not
be installed successfully, I then went to the site to mannually
download the service pack (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/),
although I was able to download, but during the installation, I got
this error message:
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT287.tmp. It
has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be
modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch
vendor.
Cancel, Retry, Ignore?
I tried the "Ignore" then it will continue to install, but then it
will prompt me again for the same message (only the filename become
"PT293.tmp"), I had no choice but to "cancel" the installation)..
Any idea why is that? I have disabled all of the anti-virus software
and memory resident software that might have caused the conflict, but
still not working. I did install some of the spyware removal software
(such as the freeware "Search & Destroy") and ad banner blocking
software, does this might be related?? I also tried to totally remove
the Office XP and then reinstall everything again, but still the
same... Any help would be highly appreciated.
