Office XP Service Pack 1 or 2 causes files not to load

I installed SP1 and SP2 to Office XP Professional. Now I
get messages about normal.dot template, about changes
made to global template, and I cannot open any Word or
Excel file, even I create a new one and save it to my
desktop. I saves it, but will not open it. Message says
file not available. This has completely shut me down.

I repaired Office XP but that did not help.

I deleted normal.dot and it was recreated but that did
not help. I still get message saying normal.dot exists
everytime I close Word. Files will still not load.

I had issues with pdfmaker.dot but after I renamed that
file those issues went away.

Any ideas?
