Office XP Service Pack 3 ruined Word as email editor

I run Office XP and have used it for several years without significant
problems. I recently installed service pack 3 and noticed that whenever I
try to compose an email, the error message pops up that "this task requires
Word as your email editor. Word cannot be found or is busy so Outlook editor
will be used instead."

Outlook then loads a standard email window using the Outlook email editor.
While I can still send emails, I would prefer to use Word as my editor for a
variety of reasons. Does anyone have a real fix for this problem? I tried
editing the registry as indicated on one of MS support pages, but that didn't
help.

Thanks.

I just went through the same problem after updating to Office XP SP3 via the
automatic updates. I had to remove all of the updates and the went back to
the original Office XP version 2002. I can now use Word 2002 as Outlook 2002
e-mail editor.
