After upgrading office XP to SP3 on dozens of computers
(win 98se) we have found that the "Open Office Document"
and "New Office Document" Start Menu items no longer work
properly for word and excel files (they seem to work for
powerpoint, publisher, and access).
Using New Office Document to create a blank document or
workbook, or using "Open Office Document" to open an
existing one has no effect (i.e. word or excel never
open). Checking Task Manager reveals that OSA is not
responding.
I have seen the problem referenced by others, but can find
no information on how to create it. Completely
uninstalling and reinstalling Office XP did not work.
Any information or ideas would be appreciated.
