Office XP - SP3 - Hangs while doing Save As

K

kayen

So far I have tried Word, Excel and Powerpoint and in all
three, Office XP hangs when I hit the pull-down menu in
the Save As dialog box, to select a folder in which I
want to dave the document.

The only recovery is to ctl-alt-del and end task. This
problem is at a minimum a nuisance and at worst is a
catastrophic problem.

Any insight? I have looked everywhere in Microsoft's
website for a description of this problem but with no
luck...so far.

THANKS!

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, when I went
into Registry through regedit, I did not find the
particular key that the KB article was referring to. My
office version was 10.0 instead of 8.0. I checked under
both places and still did not find it.

Any other suggestions please?

It is usually because you have invalid hyperlinks, shortcuts or mapping in
the area that you are trying to Lookin.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder that you were opening when
Word hung. Check to see that it doesn't have anything other than normal
files/folders. Also make sure that if you have any mapped drives that they
are all valid and work.
