Office XP SP3 Installation Problems

I got the message to install the SP3 updates to Office XP. When I did so, I
downloaded the full version so as to not have to use the CD to complete the
install. When I performed the install, it has corrupted Windows XP and now
my computer will not boot. The message I received indicated there was a
kernel Data inpage error. In the technical info, there was something related
to ftdisk.sys. I have no idea what all this means. I used the F8 function
during the boot process to try to reboot in safe mode or last known working
configuration, but it would not reboot using either of those methods.

Please help.
