Office XP Standard for Teachers/Students

Pamela

Hi there,

A few questions:
1)can the teacher/students version of Office XP standard
be used on two computers (same house/two students)? if
not, what is the best solution?
2)can Office XP standard be used on a Windows 98 platform?
3)do you all recommend the students/teachers version vs.
the regular standard or professional version?

Thanks for all your help!!

On computer. Check here for more information of this edition:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/forstudents/default.asp
On this page, also check licensing limitations.
2)can Office XP standard be used on a Windows 98 platform?
Yes.

3)do you all recommend the students/teachers version vs.
the regular standard or professional version?

Check here for what is in each verison:

Nope. One copy per system (this also applies to the retail version *unless*
the computers in question are different types; i.e one desktop, one laptop).
Solution? Purchase two licences.

Yes.

Depends on what you want. If you reckon you're going to need Access (only
included in Pro) then you're going to have to purchase the retail
Professional licence. There is no difference between the STE and the retail
Standard licence.
Thanks for all your help!!

Thank you all for your very informative responses. I appreciate all the
insight.

So, if I need to have the software on two computers, I need to buy two
versions regardless of the version (student/teacher or regular)? Right?

Also, do you know when Office 2003 will be available?

Thanks again,
Pamela

Late autumn is the earliest guess but don't get too excited - I'm afraid
Aaron is wrong.

Cass - Aaron is 100% correct. If you read the Microsoft link, it clearly
states that you can install the STE on up to 3 computers.

Lifting this part of the Q & A:

1.. "I am the parent of a 16-year-old high-school student and a
10-year-old elementary-school student. Which products/channel should I be
looking at?"
i) There is a great solution: Office Student and Teacher 2003 Edition. It’
s available in retail outlets and can be installed on up to three machines.

Hope this helps.
