Office XP Standard install - Error # 1608

I currently have Office Professional for windows 95
installed on my computer. I wanted to upgrade to Office XP
Standard. It wont let me get past the product key. When I
click after entering the product key #, it says Error
1608"setup was unable to locate a qualifying product. I
was told that Office 95 suite was a suitible product that
should have been recognized. I have tried inserting the
disk one from Office 95 whan this error mesage came on and
it still wasn't able to find a qualifying product. Can
someone help me with this? I run a business on this
software and can't download some files without this
upgrade. I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Dennis -

Unfortunately, it does not appear Office 95 is a qualifying product for the
upgrade edition. The box that it came in didn't indicate that did it? Here
is an article that lists which products qualify for the upgrade.

You may want to take the product back to the store that you purchased it
from that told you it would qualify.
