Office xp standard setup problem with publisher

B

Bryan

I have installed Office xp standard on a machine which
previously had office 2k pro. Outlook, Word, and Excel
are all working fine. Publisher is not working right.
Every time I open it up, it opens up, then when I try to
click on anything, it locks up and gives me a windows
error. I tried to repair it using the install cd with no
luck. Does anyone have any ideas before I totally
uninstall office and start over from scratch?

Thanks!

I apologize, it is office xp sbe. In the mean time, I
did an uninstall of office xp sbe and then reinstalled
it, and the same thing is happening. I don't think the
uninstall you run from the cd actually completely
uninstalls it because when I open up outlook after I
reinstalled it, all my email information was there and
unchanged. I would assume normally if you uninstall
software, you would have to start over from scratch,
which is what I want and what is not happening. Please
Help!!!

If you uninstall it does'nt remove data files, the pst being such. When you
reinstall OL finds the origonal pst and uses it.
I assume you've uninstalled Office2K, that being the case its possible a
file or some such is conficting with the installed XP. There will be a MS kb
article on the manual removal of Office2K, fraid I dont have url. It would
seem to me that you might best proceed by ensuring O2K is completely
uninstalled , prior to the install of XP.
When you do install XP it might be preferable to install into a new Folder
eg OfficeXP rather than a default install.
Hope something here helps,
David
