office xp standard student edition upgrade

I have been trying to upgrade Office XP Standard Edition for Students and
Teachers to Office XP Professional Edition. I have both the original full
version Standard Edition and the Professional Edition Upgrade. However, when
i try to do the upgrade, the system cannot find qualifying product.
Is it impossible to upgrade student versions?

While I don't have the EULA handy, I believe the Office XP S&T edition
states that it is not a valid qualifying product for upgrades. Also,
MS uses the term cross-grade for going from one Office XP edition to
another.

The STE cannot be used as a qualifying product for upgrades and Microsoft
did not recognize cross-grades in Office XP. It appears they do now for
Office 2007.
