Office XP startup

I have recently re-installed Outlook XP and when I start the applications it
fires up straight away but I get the StartUp Screen displayed for about 15
seconds in which time I cannot use Outlook. Before, the startup screen would
display for a second and I could use Outlook immediately. Have I installed
something differently? Can I get Outlook to behave as it used to?
