Office XP / Terminal Services Out of Memory Error

I am running W2K TS and Office XP - whenever a user tries to load a file in
Word or Excel which is already open, an error message "Not enough memory
available..." is displayed rather than "this file is locked by another
user".

Is this a known issue and if so, is a fix available?

Any help much appreciated.
