Office XP to 2003!!!???

E

Egg

Hi,

I have office XP student and teacher edition and have live update switched
on in Windows XP home edition.
The last automatic update somehow installed office 2003 proffessional and
when opening office documents this is the default and constantly asks for the
registration key, which I don't have as I have never bought 2003 pro.
Obviously this can be 'got round' by right click and 'open with' but this is
a pain.
Questions are:
1 Why did Office 2003 professional get installed?
2 How do I get rid of it?
3 How do I stop it happening again?

Thanks for the help

The automatic update function cannot install a new version of
Office on your computer. If you have a newer computer, then
maybe a trial version of Office 2003 came preinstalled on the
computer by the computer manufacturer. Click on Start | Control
Panel | Add or Remove Programs, and remove Office 2003 if you
find it there.
