Office XP unexpectedly terminates when disconnected from network

Hi, I have a laptop running Win XP Pro and Office XP
Pro. Office was loaded as a standalone install and ran
fine when Laptop was used as a stand alone. I connected
to our office peer to peer network later and used laptop
fine with my desktop pc as well. Now when I disconnect
my lap top and take it home, I open any OFFice programme
and with in minutes the programe shuts down
unexepectedly - the laptop still runs fine. All service
packs for Win XP have been installed - all updates for
Office XP have also been installed - all to no avail.
The Laptop is virus free with Norton 2003 AV installed -
any ideas? thanks

Hi Mike,

By chance, do you have a network printer set as the default for your
laptop? If the driver isn't installed locally then that could be the
cause of the problem.

For example when Word starts it queries the printer driver to
determine available fonts, printable area, etc. If the driver isn't
found then Word will crash.

Try removing the printer and adding it back using the Add Printer
Wizard to install the printer driver locally.
