Office XP Update: Can't find PRORET.MSI

I'm trying to run the Office XP SP2 update but the
process stops because file PRORET.MSI cannot be found on
my Office XP CD. I did use the CD to install Office XP.
I've tried disabling my AntiVirus Product as recommended
but to no avail. Any advice?

Hello there,
I too was getting the error 1328 message saying that it
couldn't find file xxxxx.msi or the file had already been
patched by other means. I found a website with a perfect
workaround solution.

I have used both the SP1 and SP2 workarounds and they
worked like a charm. I hope you'll find them helpful
too. The instructions may look daunting but they are
really easy to follow if you print them out first.
