Office XP update failure

Dave

Trying to install Service Pack 1, I get an error msg ("an
error ocurred while trying to install" ... no msg #). Zero
chance of communicating directly with Microsoft (the scum-
sucking pigs), because Office was originally installed by
Dell, though reinstalled by me several times. Any ideas on
what I might try? I would like to shove the Office XP disk
up Bill Gates' ass, but aside from that, any advice would
be appreciated.

Have you tried that particular procedure on yourself?

Please report back the results.

It appears that Miss Milly Two Shoes is offended, but
perhaps others can understand my frustration here.
Microsoft won't allow me to ask for help because Dell
bought and installed their software; Dell won't provide
help because it's Microsoft's software update. A classic
Catch 22.

Here's is the technical information on the error, just in
case anyone has any idea what it means. I surely don't.

No, not offended, just highly amused.

It would seem that you wanted to try an untested procedure and I simply
invited you to be the beta tester and report back your results.

It is you who seems to be offended by my post. I spend too much time in
this group and others to take offense at a post from someone I don't know.
