Office XP Update looks for PRORET.MSI. I Have PROPLUS.MSI

Arnold

I tried to run the Office Update but it wouldn't work. It
wanted PRORET.MSI. I'm using the OFFICE XP Professional
with Front Page from the MSDN Universal Subscription.
Some of the updates worked, but not the SECURITY ones.

What should I do?

Hi Arnold,

The main installer file of MS Office XP Profesional edition
(retail and OEM) is ProRet.MSI. If that is what is listed
in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel then
you'll need a matching CD, or you can backup, uninstall
Office, restart then install from the MSDN CD. You can
also try using the full package (admin) updates from
http://microsoft.com/office/ork rather than the officeupdate
patches, but at some point you may want to change a feature
setting and that will require the CD and installed editions
to match.
