Office XP update not working

I get a message that states that Error! Unable to check
for updates on this computer.

Even if I manually download the latest patches, it crashes
with an error

sure haven't. I've been trying for months. I have

I am nothing short of FURIOUS.

in a day and age where Microsoft leads the bandwagon
about piracy ruining them, they don't even fix problems
for software that people have paid for.

the above article is from the knowledge base and to quote
one of the reasons why I cannot update my system
"You attempted to apply the Microsoft Office XP Service
Pack 1 (SP-1) that was released December 13, 2001"

amongst other reasons - I know that this system has not a
single bit of pirate software on it....

and here it is - if you patched early (as told to) then
you get penalised.....

as yet there is no fix for this!!!!! so you can't patch
office!!!

I had the same problem. See the message "Update problem
fix". It is 15 or 20 messages back, on the next board
page as of now. The fix is what Microsoft sent me. My
update works perfectly now.
