Office XP updates lock out database

I updated an office computer using Office XP Professional this morning and
now when I try to access our database which is on a network drive I get a
message that MS won't open this file it is not on the Intranet.....
I looked to remove the offending updates, but I can't.
Any suggestions? I can't keep copying the entire mailing list to everyone's
computers every day so that they are current.
