Office XP Updates - Need a Fix !!!!

Barry Rubin

It seems many users are having a problem installing the latest patches
to Office XP (826293, 824938, 824934, 822036).

Microsoft appears to want the original CD during the install to prevent
bootleg copies being used. This must be the source of many of these
problems, since updating WinXP Pro always goes fine for me and no CD is
required.

I have tried the manual and auto install without success on my
stand-alone pc. BTW. my Office XP and WinXP are fully licensed versions.

Microsoft, please FIX THIS PROBLEM.

It is very bad. I have a licensed copy of Small Business Edition Office
2000. I have the disks. My friend's son is going to college so I agreed to
install Windows XP (a new upgrade package thank you). This then required
that to enable Office to work fully with XP that it be reconfigured. I
popped in my Office disks and it told me to drop dead. Apparently my set
with the seperate SP1 disk purchased from MS was not good enough. It wanted
his disks with SP1 integrated into the disks. Microsoft has taken this way
too far.
