Office XP updates should be possible without program disks

At my work we have site licenses for Office XP which do not entitle us
to have the program disks. Updating becomes a real problem if the
downloaded updates require the program disks because arrangements
have to be made to get a PC support person to bring the disks. This can
take days.

Hi, Radamec,

Microsoft heard this complaint and mitigated the issue somewhat in Office
2003 with the introduction of the Local Installation Source feature.

Your PC support people can also do things to mitigate the need for the CD by
how they deploy the program. If they would install from a single
administrative installation point on a server it can be easier to supply
updates, or copy the CD to the server and run setup from there.
