Office XP updates

B

Bernie

After updating Office XP, I am unable to open any of the applications. I
receive an error message:
Microsoft "Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint" has not been installed
for the current user. Please run setup to install the application.
I reinstalled Office XP and receive the same results. It almost appears to
be a security problem but I use the administrator account to install all
applications. Anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do
to resolve this issue. Any help would gretly be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, Bernie,

What operating system are you running? Is your start menu shared among the
user profiles?

Though these articles dosn't refer to Windows XP, it does refer to operating
systems where the start menu is shared. The same fix may apply to you:

An "Application must be installed" error message occurs when you start an
Office programs:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302846

You receive a "Microsoft <program name> has not been installed for the
current user" message when you start an Office XP program or start Office
Maintenance mode:

Hope that helps--

Wow; bad editing, but you get the idea...

Should have said: "Thought these articles don't refer to Windows XP, they do
refer to..."
