Office XP upgrade and now IE remains in memory

B

Brian Green

On Windows XP Home Addition, the Office Upgrade site
indicated that SP1, SP2 and Word 2002 updates were not
installed. I installed them in order...SP1 first, then
SP2 and finally the Word 2002 update. All was ok until I
went on the web and then tried to close IE 6.0 which now
remains in memory. Task Manager shows it using anywhere
from 85-95% CPU.

I tried doing a System Restore to immediately before
installing the Office updates but the problem remains.

Has anyone experienced this problem?? Since the updates
cannot be uninstalled, my next step is to uninstall
Office, see if IE closes properly, then reinstall Office
and try it again.

Any ideas or suggestions??
Thanks.
