Office xp with ghost imaging

John

I have Norton ghost imaging software setup for imaging
new laptop. After boot up and running through the setup
wizard (sysprep), I get the Office Activation Wizard when
opening word or any other Office App and need to insert
the cd to activate.

Can anyone help or have any ideas??

John,

This is normal if you haven't activated the product before cloning the
laptop. All M$ software now requires activation since 2000. This is to
ensure that the the M$ brand (especially $ icon) is protected.

There is no truth in what one website said that M$ have issued a patch
for Office XP to avoid activation. If you have Corporate version of
Office then you don't even need serial code. I found this recentlyand
this is very unusual.

I suggest activate the product first then clone your laptop for future
resetting of it. Machines do get very slow over time and the only way
is to reinstall (or recover from Ghost image) everything. Second time
activation is a telephone process and in the UK it is a pain in the AR**
because of head counts at M$ HQ.

Hope this helps.
