Office XP Word and Excel won't open files

No matter how I try and open word or excel files I get
the message "The file (xyzetc) is not available". The
files are intact and the word files can be opened in
another lotus word processing application. Any ideas?

How are you trying to open the files? Are you using File/Open?
Double-clicking them from an Exploring window such as My Computer?

Where are the documents stored? Local drive? Network drive? Floppy?
