Office XP (Word)

J

Jimmy Sanders

I have an issue where I have a windows 2000 professional
pc with Office XP. When I load Word ( Minimized ) it works
fine. However, if I load Word normal or Maximized it
appears that Word stops responding. Some of the features
at the top are missing. If you minimize and then maximize
Word it starts working fine again. Has anyone seen this
type of problem...? Thank in advance.

Jimmy.

Can't say I have, Jimmy. It may help if you maximize the window but use
File/Close to close it instead of the 'x'.

Good luck,

Ed

I have tried this and it still does the same thing. I have
found where Microsoft Office comes pre-installed on the pc
and if you remove the pre-installed Adobe which has
integrations with Office, this has fixed the problem in
the past with Word locking up when you first load it.
However I have done this, and I still have the same weird
problem starting word. If anyone knows of a different
option to try, please post it and I'll keep checking back.
Thanks Edward for your input.

Jimmy.

Hi Jimmy,

You might try the common troubleshooting steps found in this article:
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

I suspect you may have an add-in creating problems or perhaps some
corruption in the Registry if you encounter missing items in the
application window.

Another possibility is your graphics driver. Try starting Windows in
Safe Mode and see if Word runs maximized. If so then check your
settings or try obtaining an updated driver from the manufacturer's
web site.
