computer moron

I have a problem concerning OfficeXP Professional version. My computer went
down so I purchased a new one. I tried to install OfficeXP from the cds and
it keeps saying I have the wrong product keys. I now realize that is because
I have used this same product key on my other computer. But since I am
unable to get into that computer to uninstall Office (because it doesn't
work), how can I get Office installed on my current computer without having
to buy all new software? Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Your problem is not that you have used the product key to install on a prior
computer. Suggest you:

Verify that your using the product key from the orange label on your
Office XP CD case.
That you are entering the key correctly. For the font that Microsoft
uses, you can miss-read a letter or number such as B and 8.

And if doing so you find you've entered them correctly, select the telephone
option.

And third, if the software came preinstalled on the now defunct PC, you
cannot transfer the license to any other computer.

There isn't an "activate by telephone" option when you're actually just
installing Office.

True - but I suspect he will have to use the telephone method at the next
step.
