A user deleted excel and word, then re-installed office,
when it finished installing they were prompted to re-boot.
When it re-booted the pc only went to a dos command prompt
does anyone know why or how to get around this

You'll want to provide more details to see if someone can help:

What version of Office
Is it retail or was it pre-installed on the computer
How was it installed (CD or network share)
What operating system it's running on
