I am have been running Office2000 and WinXP on a laptop
since Oct'03 I downloaded Office2000 security updates ~
mid Nov. Immediately after installing the updates, all MS
appl HELP started acting strangely. Each time I clicked
on help (either appl or VBA), it took 20 to 30 seconds for
Help to load even if I asked for help a 2nd time during
the same session. Prior to the updates, it took 2 to 3
seconds. My workaround was to minimize the help window
after the first request during the session. But the
delays got longer and longer approaching 2 minutes. I
reinstalled Excel (no change) and was thinking about
reloading the entire Office2000 package. And then today,
my request for Help within Excel went unanswered for over
5 minutes. I eventually had to end Excel via the Task
Manager window. And then just as suddenly the whole
problem is gone. Help now comes up in a few seconds as
you would expect.
Any ideas?
Thanks
