I am running Excel2000 under Windows XP Professional.
When I installed Office2000 (SR1), Excel, Outlook, Word,
etc., seemed to run as they had on previous computers. I
recently (~ 2 weeks ago) downloaded and installed several
Office2000 updates from the MS web site. I noticed
many "changes" to program setups. I have tracked down
and "fixed" all but one. This is a significant change to
the way HELP works from within MSOffice applications:
Whenever I access Help from inside any MSOffice
application, the system spends 20 to 30 seconds loading
HELP information and the first HELP screen is a single
Help window vs the more normal multi-tabbed window. It is
as though there is a setting that tells the applications
to not keep any Help info readily available and to
start "from scratch" each time I access help. I have
poked around but can find no place that seems to control
such activity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
