Office2003 SP1 - Failed Install "This Update Cannot be applied"

I have downloaded both versions of the Office 2003 SP1
(Full & Client) After executing either of these updates I
get the installer kicking off then the End User Agreement
screen. After a while of collating information a dialog
pops up to say "This Update Cannot be applied".

Can anyone throw light on this issue?

Forgot mention - Using XP Pro with all the latest patches
applied.

I had the same issue with my french version. What I had installed was office
sbs2003, infopath 2003 and frontpage 2003 (each one of these program was
coming from a separate cd).
I uninstalled Frontpage and Infopath, then applied the patch... it worked.
I then re-installed Infopath and applied the patch again... it worked

Finally I did the same with Frontpage

And now everything is ok.... hope this helps you!

I had this problem too - actually SOME Office components did get SP'd, but
Update kept telling me that I needed SP1.

I uninstalled (via Add/Remove...) Office Web Components (was an old
version - new version would not install over it) & then ran SP1 & it
completed
However, after installing new version of Web Components & trying to reapply
SP1 I get message that "version is not what is expected"

I also have Frontpage installed

Look in C:\Documents and Settings\***\Local Settings\Temp\OHotfix for error
log

If you send me your log files from the %temp%\ohotfix folder, I'll take a
look at them. These log files are not created when you install from Office
Update. You'll need to install from the Download Center at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A6-7CB1-4F61-837E-5F938254FC47&displaylang=en.
It will help, too, if you export the registry keys listed below.

Send these files in a Zip file to mailto:[email protected] (remove
'.online' before sending).

Thank you. The removal of FrontPage2003 and then appling
the patch Sp1 Office 2003 worked.

Now.. The same happens with Visio2003 and Project 2003
patches! I don't have onenote so I can't think what's
stopping this update.

Anyway, cheers for the work round.
