I just totally uninstalled Office 97 Standard from my computer and with
Explorer I ensured that there were no Microsoft Office files on my hard
drive where Office had been installed ( D:\Programs\...on my machine).
In past years I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office several times to
remedy problems, especially with Outlook. I was now attempting to get
the duplcated, unused files out.
I then reinstalled Office 97 Professional.
Please Note: I unistalled Office 97 Standard and then installed Office
97 Professional
It all went okay. I then proceeded to install Microsoft Office SR 1
with no problem. However when I attempt to install Microsoft Office 97
SR-2 patch I get the following trouble message window:
"The Microsoft Office 97 SR-2 patch cannot be applied to your computer.
Either Office 97 is not installed on this computer, or there are files
from multiple versions of Office 97 on this computer. Try installing
Office 97 or running the latest SR-1 patch to correct the problem. Or
contact Microsoft....."
I had installed SR-2 with no problem prior to this cleaning up. I am
running on Windows 98 Second edition.
I would appreciate some help here to ascertain just what SR-2 may be
seeing or checking to think there are multiple files on my system. And
how I might remedy the situation.
TIA
