Office97 will not open in XP

I am unable to use Office97 since I have a new computer. When my old computer died, I transfered my hard drive in the old computer which contained my Office97 to my new computer. My old computer used WindowsME, the new one runs XP.

You cannot just transfer the disk and expect large programs like this to
work. You will need to reinstall the software so that the registry on the
new computer is updated.

If Office 97 was preinstalled on the old computer then the license is
non-transferable and "dies" with the computer.
