Office97 Won't Install in W2k Pro (re-post)

I cannot get Office97 to install from the CD -- I get
a "The application failed to initialize properly
(0x0000005)" message.

I just did a clean install to W2k Build 2195 and upgraded
to SP4. I have an AMD 1.8Ghz chip and 256MB memory. The
software worked before wiping my hard drive.

Any ideas?
