Office97 Won't Uninstall

Any ideas how to get uninstall to work in Control Panel (To remove programs)?
I get a setup error. I want to free up space on hard drive and want to
uninstall Office 97 until I need to use Access (maybe never). I installed
WORD 2003 and don't think I really need Office 97.
