Office97 -> XP Upgrade permissions problems

I have recently upgraded from office 97 to XP on our Win2000 (SP3) machine.
It works fine when we are logged in as Administrator, but there are
formatting problems when we open up documents when logged in as an
unprivilegded user. In Word, the wrong fonts appear and the characters are
bunched up against each other with some fonts (eg. Century Gothic) but not
others (eg. Times Roman). In Excel the worksheet area is replaced by one
large grey cell and when you look at the dimensions, the cell height is
huge. The characters are also not visible. Certain other spreadsheets are
fine.

In the WINNT\Fonts directory most of the font files are inaccessible to
"ordinary" users (ie group "Users"). I have made some of these fonts
readable by "Users" and have fixed the font problem. There are however
hundreds of other fonts which need to have permissions changed.

Is there an easy way of changing permissions for all of these fonts?

I haven't been able to solve the problem with Excel spreadsheets. I presume
its also a permissions problem. Could anyone give me some ideas as to which
files might be affected?

As there may be other files with incorrect permissions, is there any way in
which I could correct them all?
