Office97 & XP

Installed office 97 as an Admin on several pc's XP Pro SP1. Copied an admin user profil
to all users
Works fine for admins. other users get errors when saving a word document i.e

Error writing updated settings to registry (error 6 registry key Software\microsoftoffice\8.0\common\open\find\microsoft\settings\save as\anyText MRU)
When I click OK the Doc saves as required, the
when I close down word, the following error appears

Word cannot save changes to the global template because it was opene
with read access. Do you wish to save the changes to the template in a differen
name

Obviously I don't want users to change the template

What do you mean "copied a admin user profile to all users"? What is
this and why did you do this?

Hunch: users are configured to write into admin's profile ... which of
course they can't do since they aren't the admin user.

Check all the permissions. It's a permissions problem.

Hi Rob, I'm sure you've hit the nail on the head with the permissions
issue. I think I messed up when I copied the admin profile to all users.
What I should have done was created a limited user profile and copied
this to the default user.
