officeupdate shuts down my laptop

IBM R32 Laptop with Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Office 2000

When I am trying to install the SR1 from the Office Update
website the computer will shut down completely after
installing half way. This happens consistently every time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
