OfficeXP Check registration ?

I bought a used copy of OfficeXP at a garage sale
recently. Is there a way to see if the program has been
registered or activated? I searched all over MS website,
and nothing...
I don't want to install it to activate it, because I'm
building a new computer to install it in. How can I
ascertain if the program has already been registered? Is
there a way to transfer ownership of a MS product, if the
previous owner is agreeable?
