I have a problem that has consistently occurred on several networks I have
worked on. If I set up a laptop to Enable Offline files and setup that
laptop to sync with a documents folder on a networked file/print server,
everyone works correctly.
However, if I then attempt to change the folder on the file/print server
that the laptop is sync'ing with, I cannot get the laptop to stop trying to
connect to the now nonexistent folder on the file/print server.
The error I get is "Unable to connect to '\\[domain name]\[folder name]'.
The network name cannot be found." In this particular instance, the client
wanted the name of the document folder on the file/print server changed.
I tried:
- disabling Offline files on the laptop,
- deleting all the local copies of the sync'ed files
- performing a complete cold shutdown and restart
- reenabling Offline files on the laptop
As soon as I reenable Offline files, the Taskbar popup appears trying to
sync with the now nonexistent folder on the file/print server.
I have been through every setting I can find in Offline files and combed the
Knowledge base, but can't find any solutions to "fix" this.
