.oft templates / signature problem

Outlook 2002, Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

I have several .oft templates saved (plain text, no HTML or rich text). I
access them by a button I customized on my toolbar, but I have the same
problem if I go through the menus (File/New/Choose Form/ then select the
template) to access these.

I have the option to always use my signature box for new messages checked.
That's the same as it's always been.

SysAdmin did "some updates" to our computers last week, and ever since then
Outlook inserts my signature into those .oft templates at the top before the
message starts.

Before the "updates", Outlook did NOT enter my signature into those .oft
templates, even though I had the option set to do that.

How do I turn off this non-feature for existing .oft templates, but leave it
on for my other new messages?

Thanks for that pointer Sue, however that didn't fix the problem.

Anybody else have suggestions?

My IT folks say I should just upgrade to Outlook 2003. Does anyone know if
that'll work?

Did you actually apply the hotfix and registry change? Outlook 2003 SP1
behaves the same as OL2002SP3+ hotfix and supports the same registry value

My IT personnel came over and did it while I watched. Yes, they stepped
through the whole process but that didn't fix the problem.

I'd suggest testing with another custom form. The fault could lie in the
form itself.

We tried with every form, and with new forms; nothing helped.

However, since you indicated that OL2003 SP1 fixes the problem, I've
requested the upgrade.

I didn't say it would fix the problem. I said OL2003 SP1 has the same
behavior and registry value as OL2002 SP3+hotfix. Since you've already tried
the latter, I have no expectation that you'll see anything different with
SP1. Let us know if you do.
