OK to import DreamWeaver-made web pages into FrontPage for editing

Can I import web pages (created for a small business -- original program used
to create the site was DreamWeaver) to the hard drive on my laptop so that I
can open them in my FrontPage 2003 program, which I own, and resume website
design & page editing (from home - saving 3+ hour drive time for website
updates) using my FrontPage program????? All without losing formatting,
info, etc.?? Also, OK after that, to design new pages with FrontPage and
upload to site from there - to be updated further using FrontPage and
Contribute 2?

I'm truly trying to save the small business $400+ so they don't have to
purchase DreamWeaver. Also in doing so, I can open the files using my
FrontPage 2003, which I presently own and know how to use.

1. If the pages will never be touched by DW again, and
2. If the pages were built with DW4 or earlier

then you will be able to do this. If the pages were built with DW6 or
later, FP will not understand the Template markup used on the page....

Can I also assume that I will not lose formatting on the pages (which are
mostly text & logo based at the moment, I believe) and that new FrontPage
pages made from existing DW page templates (later saved by me as FrontPage
pages) will also keep formatting in tact?

Something was mentioned in a previous post about "FrontPage Extensions"
being on the server that FrontPage web pages are uploaded to. Should I check
with the server IT folks to see that those FrontPage extensions are in place
before proceeding?

I also read a few posts about the 2 new Microsoft Web Design products that
are replacing FrontPage these days. Will this small business I'm going to
begin web design services for be "out of luck" down the road (extensions,
support, etc.) when/if my personal copy of FrontPage will -- who knows what
the reason (out-of-date, incompatibility because of the 2 newbie programs,
etc.) -- no longer serve the purposes of the website for the business?
AND... in that event, would their site be able to continue with updates and
design by them ending up needing to purchase 1 of the 2 new Microsoft Web
Design programs (instead of the DreamWeaver program the site began with???).
OR should they just go ahead and 'put out' for the copy of DreamWeaver?? I
know, dumb question to ask a Microsoft techie

Up to this point, my experience has been with freebie website design sites
(Yahoo, Freewebs, etc.) and a 'class' to learn some of FrontPage back in
2004. So....... these are bigger questions that what my present knowledge
base can answer.

Before going too much further, I have to make the obligatory nag -

If you attempt to do this without understanding HTML and CSS your are
figuratively 'running with scissors'. Please take the time to refresh, and
even enhance your knowledge of these two key aspects of web development
before you begin. Once you understand HTML, the tool used to generate the
pages will be immaterial.

Also, I cannot really council you further without actually seeing the pages
in question. Can you post a link to one of them?
