OL 2002 clogged, needs more space. HOW?

Using OL 2002.

Does anyone know how to change a setting that will enable my OL 2002
not to be limited by the amount of space it's filled with from emails
and attachments?

Will "archiving" emails automatically reduce the space affecting OL's
ability to finction?

Please define clogged? What type of account do you have? If you're using a
regular ISP and your mail is delivered to a PST (personal folder), you have
a 2 GB limit. Simply create another PST and move excess emails into it.

If you have an Exchange account, you are limited by what your Exchange admin
has set for a mailbox size. You'll have to clean up, dealing with your
attachments first. You can create a personal folder to add to your Outlook
profile but be warned, the PST is kept locally and NOT backed up.

However, in order to give you any concrete advice without guessing, please
provide your mail account type.

new incoming emails. In fact, OL is so clogged that to delete emails

Time for a new PST, then, if that's what you're using, or judicious use of
AutoArchive, as Ms. Orland suggests. The sentence "I use a regular ISP"
doesn't actually state what type of account you have created, but it does lead
me to believe you're using a POP account. Therefore, with Outlook closed,
open the Mail applet in Control Panel, click the "Data Files" button, then
click "Add". Create a new PST. ONce it has been created and you are back at
the Mail applet's window, click E-mail Accounts, select "View or change
existing e-mail accounts", click Next, and in the "Deliver new e-mail to the
follwing location" drop-down at the lower left, select the new PST you just
created. OK out of the Mail applet, then start Outlook. You'll now have a
new, emtpy set of folders as your default folders. You'll also see your old
folders if you look at the folder list. You can move active things, like your
calendar contents, from the old folder to its corresponding new default
folder, but leave all the old mail behind. Since it is still available, you
can reference it at any time, but you'll no longer be adding to that PST so it
won't be getting larger.
